        • Factors Affecting the Quality of Electroplating Layer – External Factors (2022)

Factors Affecting the Quality of Electroplating Layer – External Factors (2022)

        1. The effect of the shape of the part on the quality of plating
For parts with complex shapes, the deep recesses and inner surfaces are often not plated, so the expected effect cannot be achieved.
Although a pictographic anode, a protective cathode and an auxiliary anode can be used to obtain a coating with as uniform thickness as possible, this brings great trouble to the electroplating work, and the electroplating cost will be greatly increased.

        2. Influence of Assemblies on Electroplating Quality
An assembly is a component that cannot be disassembled after welding or riveting of multiple parts.
During the electroplating process, the chemical liquid penetrates into the gap of the parts. After the parts are placed for a period of time after electroplating, the electrolytic solution hidden in the gap seeps out and reacts with the coating layer, causing the parts to rust.
Therefore, when designing the electroplating of the entire set of parts should be avoided as much as possible, and the electroplating of a single part should be considered before riveting or other methods for assembling.

        3. Storage and packaging factors
During the storage process of electroplating qualified parts, the environment of the warehouse must be guaranteed to avoid atmospheric corrosion of the parts. In addition, during transportation, product packaging directly affects the corrosion resistance of parts.
Therefore, it is necessary to minimize the source of organic volatilization atmosphere. Galvanized parts must be stored in wooden boxes, with reliable inner packaging and desiccant to ensure that the parts are completely isolated from the external corrosive atmosphere, otherwise the parts are very easy to rust , affecting product quality and causing adverse effects.
These external factors are easily ignored by us and become an important factor affecting the quality of electroplating.
